Current Surgical Diagnosis And Treatment

Current Surgical Diagnosis And Treatment - Medical Books CornerI need a reference about surgery when i am on a course in minor surgery. I ask my friends about which book is clearly give information about surgery. He said that Current Surgical Diagnosis And Treatment is a great book about surgery. This medical surgery books contains 47 chapters by surgeons and medical practitioners from the US who discuss the diagnosis and treatment of about 1000 diseases and disorders. The focus is on major diagnostic features and brief descriptions of disease processes. Epidemiology, pathophysiology, pathology, and general medical and surgical topics are incorporated. Chapters are grouped by organ system as well as by topics such as preparation, postoperative care, surgical complications, and pediatric surgery. This edition has been updated to cover modern surgical care, including colon/rectal surgery, and new information on power sources in the operating room. The chapter on special problems, including pregnancy and older patients, has been rewritten. Other revisions are to chapters on injured patients, the esophagus and diaphragm, the liver and portal venus systems, oncology, and organ transplantation. Current Surgical Diagnosis And Treatment is an excellent preparation for a general surgery rotation. This medical book reviews all the anatomy and then all of the pathology that is associated with each body section. I highly recommend Current Surgical Diagnosis And Treatment for 3rd and 4th year medical students and those beyond looking for reference about surgery.

Grabb and Smith's Plastic Surgery

Grabb and Smith's Plastic Surgery

This Grabb and Smith is really different from the previous edition. While the plastic surgery book previous version was a good one, this one is much better than the former, because chapters are more complete and less borringly. The fonts, paper and illustrations make reading this edition more enjoy. The authors, in more than 65% of the chapters, were modified, sometimes to ones less "famous" in the subject, but this is for the good, as the new authors do not stay focused only in their techniques. This is easy to see in reconstruction of the ear, for example. Burt Brent, the pope in this subject, did not write the new chapter, and so now we can have more highlights in the Nagata's technique. The size and weight of this medical book are smaller (or at least seem to be), making it easier to carry with you during shifts or travelling, making it an excellent daily reading medical book. It is the perfect stage between The Michigan Manual and Mathes-McCarthy-Converse's Plastic Surgery.

There is no other medical book available for the layperson that contains so much useful information presented and illustrated in such an honest and straightforward manner. Cosmetic surgery is elective surgery and has obvious benefits and some limitations. Dr. Loftus believes that the patient who has realistic expectations about what cosmetic surgery can accomplish is much more likely to make good decisions and achieve a high level of satisfaction. This medical book is extremely well illustrated, using line drawings and before and after photographs. It is also written in a clear, engaging, and friendly fashion. Medical terminology is avoided wherever possible; and when not possible, a comprehensive glossary is found in the appendix. Dr. Loftus also includes information that you would not expect to find in a book about plastic surgery, including how to evaluate your surgeon, pitfalls of computer imaging, typical cost of the surgery, selection of prosthetic materials, and potential complications.
